CLSI is proud to have been the lead civil engineer for the Union Bridge and New Windsor quarry operations of Lehigh Hanson of Heidelberg Cement Group. Most recently, beginning in 2007, CLSI began working on the conceptual layout of a 4.5-mile overland belt conveyor. The conveyor connects the New Windsor Quarry and the Union Bridge plant for limestone transportation. After reviewing multiple options, the belt conveyor proved to be the best and most community friendly option.
CLSI prepared the construction documents for civil aspect of the project including the site grading and drainage design for the entire conveyor path. We also designed two stormwater management facilities and multiple pipe culverts for safe conveyance of runoff around and under the conveyor. The construction drawings included 22 acres of sediment control measures necessary to allow the construction to disturb the entire path alignment during construction.
We are proud to have been a part of this project and look forward to many more years working with Lehigh Hanson. For more information about the project, visit: www.newwindsorquarry.com
